South
Carolina native, Carolyn Holst spent her childhood
in historic Summerville, SC. In seventh grade, she
started her first newspaper. Then, in high school,
she was a member of the yearbook staff. After graduating
Northwood’s Academy High School in 1998, she
wanted to pursue a career in the arts but just couldn’t
find the way.
Bouncing from idea to idea,
she landed a job that allowed her to use her creativeness
as a freehand glass engraver. This is when it really
“clicked” that she needed to work in
the creative field.
In October 2004, she jumped
on the chance to move to Las Vegas, NV. The saying
“What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas”
is not exactly true. Returning to South Carolina
in April 2007, Carolyn had an Associates of Science
degree in graphic design from The Art Institute
of Las Vegas, a husband and a son.
The first year back in Charleston,
she worked as a freelance artist. She jumped at
the chance to come work at UniMedia.
